A storm closes in on Overholser Lake in Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma City area and surrounding towns have suffered many severe storms and tornadoes in the month of May, 2013.
When the sky became threatening again on Father's Day, I jumped in the car and drove to Overholser lake about 10 minutes from my house. I captured the beauty and majesty of this scene with my new little Sony RX100. A camera small enough to fit in a pocket, yet packing a powerful 20mp. This image was shot in RAW and developed in LR4 and CS6. I was fortunate to capture some egrets quickly escaping the storm. Oklahoma is the land of weather and sometimes incredible beauty to go along with the destruction.
I have been involved in creative works for years. Watercolors, oils, jewelry creation, and writing. Some years ago, after undergoing treatment for breast cancer, I abandoned my partly written novel and bought my first serious camera, a Nikon, believing life is too short not to do something that gives me pleasure. Although writing was stimulating and fun, I longed to do something that got me out of the house and into nature. Within months, I abandoned film and went to a Nikon digital camera. Recently, I went to a new system with Fuji. I now shoot an X-T2. My love for the creative process, nature and the animals that live in nature influences my work, although I have branched out in many areas of photography besides...
