A setting full moon just before dawn sprinkles magical moonglow on the Caribbean sea. A photograph treated with texture and digital effects.While spending my week on the island of St. Croix, my cottage was about 30 steps from the beach. One morning, I woke up with leg cramps. It was 4 a.m. I wandered out to the beach and saw the moon setting over the water, with a fantastic moonlight trail across the water. I ran back and retrieved my Nikon D800 and began shooting. It was so dark I could not see the grid to line up the horizon, so I had to do some photoshop work to straighten the images. For the first time, I am thankful for leg cramps!
I have been involved in creative works for years. Watercolors, oils, jewelry creation, and writing. Some years ago, after undergoing treatment for breast cancer, I abandoned my partly written novel and bought my first serious camera, a Nikon, believing life is too short not to do something that gives me pleasure. Although writing was stimulating and fun, I longed to do something that got me out of the house and into nature. Within months, I abandoned film and went to a Nikon digital camera. Recently, I went to a new system with Fuji. I now shoot an X-T2. My love for the creative process, nature and the animals that live in nature influences my work, although I have branched out in many areas of photography besides...
