Description
Sharp-Shinned Hawk, Accipiter striatus.
The Sharp-shinned Hawk (Accipiter striatus) is a small hawk. In fact, "sharp-shins" or "sharpies" (as they are sometimes casually called) are the smallest to reside in USA and Canada, though some Neotropical species are smaller. This hawk haunts our backyard, where we have feeders for songbirds. Their favorite prey seem to be Mourning Doves, much to our dismay. This bird is an adult, which is told by its red eyes. Juvenile birds have yellow eyes until they mature.

What a lovely photo! I love the composition and the way the hawk tilts his head. The colours are beautiful and you've really enhanced the image with your work!
